Winter Springs History

The history of Winter Springs has been recorded from the time a New York merchant, Moses Levy, made a fortune in lumbering and trade with the Spanish. The city was incorporated in 1959 as North Orlando, and it wasn't until 1972 that it changed its name to Winter Springs. On the basis of land area, it is the largest city in Seminole County now. This city was ranked by the August 2007 issue of Money Magazine as the 31st best place to live in the United States and the 2nd best place to live in the state of Florida.
